TikTok Shop Just Opened 12 EU Markets to UK Sellers. Don't Just Flip the Switch

Creator & Influencer Marketing

From 19 October, UK TikTok Shop sellers can list into 12 EU countries from a single account — a genuinely big opportunity for food and drink brands already selling through creators. But the creator relationships that built your UK sales don't come with a passport, so this is a sequencing and localisation decision, not a toggle in your seller dashboard.

What's changing, and when

ChannelX reports that TikTok Shop's 'Sell Across EU' feature launches on 19 October 2026, opening Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Poland, the Netherlands, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Austria, Greece, Portugal and Hungary to UK sellers. A selected group of sellers was invited into an early pilot from 21 September.

It isn't open to everyone. You need to be an active UK seller in good account health, and some product categories are restricted or need extra product information and compliance documents for the EU. Payments, settlements and promotions run separately for the EU, and your account performance is assessed separately too.

Your UK creators can't carry you into Europe

Here's the bit brands will get wrong. TikTok Shop works because a creator's audience trusts them — their language, their humour, their taste. A UK creator's audience is overwhelmingly UK. Switching on German listings doesn't make a Manchester creator relevant in Munich.

The good news is that TikTok says brands can tap its affiliate network so approved creators across the EU can promote products and earn commission. So the real job is building a fresh set of creator relationships in each market you enter — which takes time, briefing and budget.

Food and drink has extra homework

If you sell food or drink, a new market isn't just a new audience. Before you list anything, check:

•       Labelling — local-language labels and ingredient information for each market.

•       Claims and compliance — what you can say on pack and in content may differ market to market.

•       Shelf life and shipping — cross-border delivery times can make short-life or chilled products unworkable.

•       Packaging obligations — extended producer responsibility (EPR) registrations may be needed where you ship.

Treat it as a sequence, not a switch

The smartest move is to go narrow first and learn fast:

•       Pick one or two markets — ideally where your category is already strong and logistics are simplest.

•       Localise properly — listings, hooks and content in the local language, not machine-translated UK copy.

•       Recruit local creators early — start with a small group, and brief them the way you would UK creators: let them shape the idea.

•       Test pricing, fulfilment and returns — get the operational basics right before you scale spend.

•       Scale what works — only add markets once you know the model holds.

Use the next few weeks wisely

There are only a few weeks until full launch. Check whether the option is showing in your seller dashboard, run a compliance check on your range, shortlist your first market and start talking to local creators now — so you're ready to move while competitors are still reading the announcement.
